Jasper Ocean Terminal gets green light for funding from Georgia

The state of Georgia has granted a $7.5m annual spend over three years to build a new terminal on the Savannah River.

The proposed $4.5bn Jasper Ocean Terminal will be developed with South Carolina. It will be positioned in South Carolina just across from downtown Savannah. The terminal is deemed necessary for when the ports of Savannah and Charleston run out of space.

US east coast ports are welcoming ever larger ships as carriers move US calls from the Panama Canal via Suez in order to soak up capacity.
