Jeddah port problems worsen

Doha: The situation in Jeddah Islamic Port has deteriorated with shippers saying costs to move cargoes through the Saudi port have spiralled 200%. Moving containers, which used to cost a maximum of 700 riyals is now costing 2,000 per unit.

Severe congestion is also causing truck drivers to wait on average 15 hours to pick up their containers. Saudi authorities are looking into the situation.  [23/06/13]
