Jiangsu Steamship takes Diana cape

Jiangsu Steamship has for the third time in three years laid down the winning bid for a cape up for sale.

The Chinese bulker player is the taker of a ship sold by Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping, tabling $15.08m for the 2005-built Aliki. The pure breed bulker player has taken advantage of the uncertainty in the market which is flooded with ships and few bidders to get a bargain price, some $1m less than what VesselsValue estimates the ship is worth.

Last year, Jiangsu Steamship added its first newcastlemax, a 14-year-old giant now renamed Xin Hai.
