Jinhai scores box trio

Shanghai: French containerline giant CMA CGM has inked a contract to build three 2,500 teu ships at Chinese private yard Jinhai Heavy Industry. Brokers estimate the ships are costing $33.5m per unit. They will deliver in the first half of 2016.

The vessels are of a Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) design. For Jinhai, which has been hard hit by cancellations, the order from a major European containerline represents a serious breakthrough.  [22/05/14]
