An immediate opening has arisen in this leading P&I Club to join their Americas team in London.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:-
• A detailed understanding of the principles of estimating and their application to claims
• A detailed understanding of the foundations of law including the distinction between sources of law, whether statutory, common law, tortious or contractual, the distinctions and interfaces between civil law and criminal law, statute law and regulation and the basis of the law of tort, as well as general principles distinguishing between tortious and contractual damages
• A detailed understanding of shipping law including the main Charter Parties (NYPE, Asbatankvoy, Gencon) and the main towage contracts.
With a can-do attitude and appetite to provide a first class service, you will enjoy working in a dynamic claims environment, including being client facing. This roles comes with a varied workload in the types of claims and combines technical and legal knowledge. collaborative team where you will work on your own initiative and be accountable.

The successful applicant must have claims handling experience of at least 3 years in a ship owner or P&I Club and possess a law degree. It is an advantage if applicants are UK qualified as are language skills in Spanish or Portuguese.
You must also have existing entitlement to work in the UK.
