Environmental and Sustainability Specialist (Marine Engineer), Newcastle or London (3134)

Halcyon Recruitment
June 29, 2022
London / Newcastle, United Kingdom
Job Type

With EEXI, CII, IMO DCS and EU MRV having become every day considerations for ship owners, and an ever growing list of energy/CO2 reduction options, this company's customers are regularly asking for guidance on "how do we make our ships more efficient?"
We are seeking a Marine Engineer to become the UK region specialist on environmental and sustainability technology.
As well as assisting ship owners with their reporting, you will build your knowledge of the broad variety of fuels, systems and technology options available and in development, so that you can become the subject mater expert both externally and internally.

Our client's advice is sought because they are positioned as a technology agnostic advisor, meaning they provide information independent of a commercial bias. This independent positioning will give you broad access to this exciting and fast moving sector as well as a huge variety of organisations, technology and contacts.

You will need to have excellent communication, relationship building and organisation skills, as well an independent, self-sufficient and pro-active way of working. These soft skills are probably more important that many years of experience.

Applicants should have a Marine Technology/Engineering degree and some work experience, ideally with practical and/or client facing experience.

Existing long-term UK working eligibility is required.

The strong preference is for this role to be based with the team in the North-East of the UK, but it is also possible that it could be based from their Central London office too.
