Description

Our client is a market-leading ship owner and operator.  Well-known with a strong reputation in the industry, they are hiring for a transactional Shipping Lawyer to join their in-house legal team. This is a broad in-house role within a dynamic company which will involve a wide variety of transactional work. At its core, the role will involve drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial documents in relation to all of the Group’s activities, and asset finance work involving the financing and delivery of vessels.

The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive package.

As an integral part of the legal team you will be involved in providing expertise and guidance on an array of varied, high-value and sensitive projects.  Working closely with the commercial team you will be directly involved in drafting and negotiating Charter Parties and other commercial / contractual agreements in this challenging and varied role.

You are likely to already be working in the shipping department of a top-tier legal firm (i.e. in London) and be drawn to the opportunity of working in-house for a major ship owner / operator, or you could already be working in-house for a smaller ship owner / operator and be attracted by joining a larger organization.  Exposure to Ship Finance and M&A activity is highly desirable.

This is a fantastic development opportunity for a 2 to 5 year PQE legal professional to work in-house and join one of the largest ship owner / operators in the industry.
