Marine Sales Engineer (Automation, Systems and Pumping Equipment):
Our Company specializes in the development, manufacture, sale and service of automation, systems, and pumping solutions for marine, industrial, defense, utility, and environmental response/recovery equipment segments, globally.
Our Company is recruiting a highly motivated Marine Sales Engineer to grow our marine segment product solutions. As the Marine Sales Engineer, a successful professional leads marketing and business development activities to identify, shape, and capture business in the Marine Segment, with emphasis on Commercial Marine areas. The ideal candidate demonstrates operational and technical experience and a proven track record of identifying and capturing new business, while developing strong relationships with staff, customers, end users, and internal colleagues. Those with an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong inner drive are excellent candidates for this position.
Reporting to the Vice President - Marine Sales, this role executes business development activities to win business with targeted marine customers. The best candidates possess a strong business development background and are adaptable to work in unfamiliar markets. Problem solving and collaboration are key skills for working within this rapidly growing and evolving segment. Employees are carefully selected for their sense of teamwork and strong drive to win.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
¨ New business identification, shaping/ development, account management, and capture.
¨ Create a sales pipeline for marine solutions.
¨ Experience working long sales cycles and interacting with ship owners, operators, shipyards, naval architects, marine engineers, and various support disciplines.
¨ Reviews project plans and specifications, and other customer documents to qualify and prepare cost estimates based on customer's requirements.
¨ Gives technical sales presentations, answers technical questions, and provides technical analysis for potential and existing projects in collaboration with Company engineers and/or representatives.
¨ Reviews and follows-up on leads and prospects developed through lead-development tactics.
¨ Works closely with inside Application staff to develop timely and competitive proposals.
¨ Working knowledge of vessel systems and their operation, control and supporting systems.
¨ Completes all the necessary reporting via reports and/or CRM system recording interactions, customer contacts, sales calls, and opportunities.
¨ Gathers market intelligence on competition, advising Company Executives of competitive activities.
¨ Other Duties as assigned by management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
¨ Minimum 8 years commercial Marine sales experience.
¨ Work independently to identify leads, meet with customers, and develop solutions.
¨ Effectively work with colleagues in various geographic locations.
¨ Self-starter, able to take guidance from his/her manager and translate that into activities to establish and strengthen Company's brand presence.
¨ This position to be in the region of the Northeast and Midwest USA, with 50% travel expected. Periodic international travel is likely.
DESIRED SKILLS:
¨ Experience selling to large, multinational/international marine customers and stakeholders.
¨ Knowledge and experience with marine classification societies and their requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: Starting from $80,000 - $100,000 USD per year. Based on experience.

Schedule: Monday through Friday.
Supplemental Pay: Commission pays on Invoiced Sales
Education: High School Diploma (Required), bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
Experience: BD/Sales experience in marine segment: 5 years (Required), 8 years (Preferred)
Willingness to travel: 50% (Required). Occasional international travel is likely.
Work Location: Chesapeake, VA (Hampton Roads, VA area), or remotely.
