Port Captain: Position can be based in either New Orleans or Houston

Our client is looking for a Port Captain to ensure that their vessels and services are safely and efficiently operated.   We are looking for someone with experience at sea in command as a Master Mariner.  Ideally you will have experience ashore in an operational capacity with a vessel owner or operator.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Overall operational responsibility for a fleet of vessels and general cargo services
  • Manage schedules, space allocation, stowage, port operations, and husbanding activities
  • Implements standards procedures and guidelines for a safe and efficient operation
  • Manage slot and space charter requirements
  • Develop and manage operations budgets
  • Direct supervision other port captains and vendor relationships

Desired skills and experience:

  • Bachelor Degree from a Maritime Academy preferred
  • Master Mariner - preferably in command of MPP or general cargo vessels
  • 5+ years of shoreside operations experience
  • Experience with MPP and general cargo vessel operations
  • Experience managing port and stevedoring operations
  • Experience with US, Middle East, and Mediterranean trades and ports is a plus
  • Must have the legal right to work in the USA
