Service Manager

Overall responsibility for propulsion equipment repairs in the Americas Region

  • Strong Managerial skills so as to properly manage a service team of upwards of 20 technicians
  • When required, perform service calls which include tear-down and overhauls.
  • Provide technical supervision and oversight to the service technicians as well as to

customers.

  • Make service sales calls to new and existing customers in the territory.
  • Development of the service technicians within the service department which includes,

but not limited to, recruiting, training, evaluating, etc.

  • Research and development of a service network in locations that are

strategic to the growth of the company.

  • Responsible for making sure that parts orders are being handled as expeditiously as

possible.

  • Develop and submit quotes for service work as the need arises.
  • Track service rates of competitors to insure that rates are

competitive and in line with others.

  • Review all invoices for parts and service prior to being submitted to the customer.

The service manager is also responsible for getting these invoices out in a timely

fashion.

  • Be the lead trainer for the propulsion system.
  • Responsible for the inventory of parts which entails developing a proper list of items

as well as an inventory management control system.

  • Duties will include, but are not limited to, insuring that the service technicians are

communicating with customers, opening and closing work orders, and coordinating

the work-scope with customers.

  • Carry out vessel inspections on equipment.
  • Participation in strategic discussions on business development in the territory.
  • Reporting on a monthly basis the service market situation and business activity to the

managing director.

  • Travel abroad to receive the appropriate training and experience necessary to

maintain proper knowledge of equipment at a level commensurate

with other specialists within the industry.

  • Look for other opportunities for service growth within the product range where our

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of service work as a service technicians, chief engineer or port engineer with competency in propulsion machinery
  • In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment/machinery.
  • Strongknowledge within the use of PLC’s and industrial controllers.
  • General knowledge in automation and standards within industrial interfacing.
  • Good computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft office software is required.
  • Strong knowledge of IACS rules and Flag State rules & regulation for repairs.
  • Ability to travel moderately (approx. 25%).
  • Must be able to present material in an understandable fashion when doing training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
