Description

Work closely with the Vice President of Terminal Operations, Operations and Systems teams on developing and executing the company’s overall warehousing strategy.  Establish and maintain standard procedures as well as building the warehouse management system.

Daily Challenges:

  • Responsible for planning and managing all cargo operations on site
  • Apply equipment needs to cargo operations
  • Optimize cargo operations for time and labor efficiency
  • Plan and implement cargo handling processes that improve operations while maintaining our high safety standards
  • Recommendation of necessary equipment for optimizing terminal operations
  • Evaluate and report on future projects/cargoes in relation to cargo operations
  • Provide solutions to current operations that affect strategic results, performance, as well as, the company’s customer and financial objectives
  • Serve as subject matter expert with regards to all cargo operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Provide operational expertise to inform and guide development of warehouse management and other related systems
  • Establish effective customer communication regarding inventory on hand, inventory processing, receipts, and shipments
  • Develop and execute the company’s warehousing and inventory management strategy
  • Accountability for the SOPs and procedures that govern all warehousing operations
  • Establish KPIs and other metrics to evaluate warehouse processes
  • Act as subject matter expert for all break-bulk cargo operations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of operational experience in warehousing, maritime focus preferred
  • Experience in dry-bulk and break-bulk cargo terminal operations preferred
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team of warehouse/logistics personnel
  • Development and implementation of cargo handling processes for optimization
  • Expert industry knowledge in cargo handling
  • Well-versed in regulatory standards and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of warehouse systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Travel up to 50% of the time
  • Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
  • The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work at protected heights up to 160 feet.
