Jordan keen to push ahead with Basra-Aqaba pipeline

Dubai: Jordan wants to press ahead rapidly with a pipeline project linking Basra in Iraq with the Jordanian port of Aqaba.

The pipeline could ultimately shift as much as 150,000 barrels of Iraqi crude a day to Jordan. Further plans for the pipeline under discussion could see it carry on to Egypt and the Mediterranean.

Iraqi and Jordanian officials are also discussing building an oil refinery and power plant in Aqaba.  [13/01/14]
