Jumbo awarded transport and installation contract by Sapura Energy

Dutch heavy lift shipping contractor Jumbo has been awarded a contract by Malaysia’s Sapura Energy for the transportation and installation of a FSRU mooring system off the coast of Aracaju, Sergipe in Brazil.

The mooring system comprises an anchor base and a rotating yoke arm filled with water and barite ballast. The structures will be loaded in Batam, Indonesia, and subsequently transported and installed at the offshore site by one of Jumbo’s offshore heavy lift cargo vessels, Fairplayer or Jumbo Javelin. The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

“In continuation of last year’s LNG projects such as Hilli in Cameroon and Moheshkhali in Bangladesh, this award enables Jumbo to again provide our unique FSRU installation solutions, this time in Brazil. We would like to sincerely thank Sapura, and also Golar, for the confidence placed in Jumbo and we are very much looking forward to working together towards a successful project completion,” said Roddy Lafontaine, VP Offshore for Jumbo.

Jumbo operates a fleet of heavy lift vessels with lifting capacities ranging from 650 to 3,000 tonnes.
