Jumbo opts for dual-fuel heavylift crane vessel

European heavylift giant Jumbo has signed a letter of intent with China Merchants Industry Holdings to build a revolutionary ship.

Jumbo has penned a deal for a new dual-fuel DP2 heavylift crane vessel (HLCV), featuring liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion. The ship has been designed in association with Ulstein.

The ship will deliver in the first quarter of 2020.

“Despite the current offshore climate, we are committing to this industry long term,” said Michael Kahn, managing director of Jumbo.
