K Line offloads first bulker this year

Brokers report that the Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has offloaded its first bulker of the year, joining a sting of other Japanese top owners shedding ships fast in a falling market.

The seven-year-old 54,000-dwt Kawasaki-built, Calypso Colossus fetched a similar price to the $8m that online portal VesselsValue.com sets the market value for such a ship.

Other Japanese owners rapidly selling bulkers include Nisshin, Kambara Kisen and Daiichi Chuo who as all been offloading a sting of similarzied sized bulkers in the last couple of months.

Brokers link Greece’s Eurobulk to the K Line purchase.
