Keppel FELS to build $240m KFELS Super B jack-up rig

Singapore: BOT Lease Co (BOTL), part of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, has ordered a KFELS Super B Class jack-up rig from Keppel FELS in a contract worth around $240m.

The rig – provisionally named Hakuryu 15 – is scheduled for completion at the end of 2016. It will be operated by Japan Drilling (JDC), based on a lease agreement with BOTL.

“Hakuryu 15 will enable us to meet the strong demand from our customers for premium-class jackup rigs and strengthen our position as a leading offshore drilling contractor," Mr Yuichiro Ichikawa, president and representative director of JDC, said in a statement.

Hakuryu 15 is the second KFELS Super B Class jackup rig to will join JDC’s fleet. “Hakuryu 11, our KFELS Super B Class unit from Keppel FELS was delivered safely and on-time in 2013, and has been working well in the field,” Mr Ichikawa said. Eleven such rigs are currently in operation around the world.
