Keppel rides Mexican wave with US$420 jackup order

 

Singapore: Keppel FELS has secured yet another contract today, this time from Mexico's national oil company, Petroleos Mexicanos, to build two KFELS B Class jackup rigs worth US$420 million.
 
The rigs are the 19th and 20th KFELS B Class rigs on order at Keppel, and are scheduled for delivery early 2015.
 
Wong Kok Seng, md of Keppel FELS, said, “We are seeing more enquiries from Mexico for new rigs and we believe our KFELS B Class jackup design is well suited to meet the requirements of the Mexican market.”
 
Keppel are riding on a wave of business from Mexico with the yard currently undertaking the construction of two rigs destined for Mexico. [12/12/12]
