King Eric up for sale

Germany’s Mercator Navigation is offloading one of its oldest handysize tankers.

All five of Mercator Navigation’s handy tankers operate in the Scorpio Handymax Tanker Pool.

The company has also four panamax tankers in its fleet as well as a number of bulkers.

Several informed broker sources report that the 14-year-old, 37,300 dwt King Eric has been sold to Vietsea from Vietnam.

Managing director Frank Kunkel, however, told Splash that reports of the sale are premature. He admitted his firm is in discussions to sell the ship.

Vietsea is a low profile owner. Three years ago it bought a pair of 1991-built LPG carriers for coastal trading.
