Hong Kong: Kingsley Koo, the chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) and a director at local family run Valles Steamship, spoke with our sister site, Maritime CEO today on his priorities as head of the vocal shipping organisation as well as the future growth of his 104-year old shipping line.
Koo listed promoting Hong Kong as a shipping hub and the environment as two key planks of his two-year tenure as HKSOA boss, which started five months ago.
As far as Valles went, Koo stressed the conservative nature of this privately held firm, saying that fleet growth was unlikely – new tonnage likely to be replacement, not additional, tonnage.
