KOTC gears up for next stage of fleet renewal

Dubai: Kuwait Oil Tanker Company has outlined plans to order two more ships. KOTC took delivery of its latest LR product tanker from Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering earlier this week taking its fleet size to 26 vessels. Another four ships are due for delivery before the end of this year as part of KOTC’s so-called third phase of fleet renewal.

KOTC has now revealed a fourth phase for fleet overhaul is set to start at end of 2014, and the plan is to build two large gas tankers to replace the company’s Mitlaa and Gurain, which would complete 25 years in operation by 2017-2018.  [25/06/14]
