Lampung FSRU operations nearly ready

Jakarta: State-controlled gas distributor Perusahaan Gas Negara has secured contracts to supply natural gas to 14 companies operating in Lampung.

The natural gas will be supplied from PGN’s soon-to-be-installed floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) in Lampung.
PGN will supply 1.3m cu ft of natural gas to those 14 companies, while a further 45m cu ft has been earmarked for three natural gas power plants that will be built in the region.

The FSRU has a capacity to supply 240m cu ft of natural gas, making it one of the world’s largest. It is scheduled to start operations next month.

It will be the second such facility for Indonesia after Nusantara Regas’s FSRU was installed off the coast of West Java in 2012.

Pertamina has plans to invest up to $400m for another FSRU that will be installed off Central Java’s coast.  [27/06/14]
