Latsco Shipping places debut LNG carrier order at HHI

Greek owner Latsco Shipping is moving into the LNG carrier sector with an order for the construction of two LNG carriers at South Korean yard Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

The two 174,000 cu m ships were ordered via Consolidated Marine Management, the technical managers for Latsco. The total value of the contract is about $370m and deliveries are scheduled in 2021.

Latsco Shipping is the third Greek owner entering the LNG carrier market this year, following Andreas Martine’s Minerva Marine and Vagelis Marinakis with Capital Gas Carrier Corporation.

Latsco Shipping currently operates a fleet of 29 vessels, comprising 20 tankers and nine LPG carriers. Last month, the company also ordered two VLGCs at HHI.
