Less than 3% of yards secure 97% of all orders this year

Beijing: Just 2.4% of China’s shipyards secured nearly 97% of all orders in the first eight months according to a report from the nation’s shipbuilding association.

Chinese shipbuilding industry won 34.19m dwt new orders for the first eight months of the year, up by 139% against the same time period a year ago, however only 39 out of more than 1,600 shipyards secured 96.5% (33.01m dwt) of the new order intake.  [10/10/13]
