Limassol port strike ends

A strike at Cyprus’s port of Limassol ended late on Thursday after the two trade unions still holding out, agreed to lift the measures and return to work.

The four-day strike had been largely a reaction to plans to privatise the island’s main ports – and is the latest in a series of industrial action taken by dockworkers in Cyprus over the past year.

The government has agreed to create a voluntary retirement scheme for dockworkers at Limassol.
