Lomar spends over $40m on supramax trio

UK-based diversified owner Lomar Shipping has expanded its bulk carrier fleet to nine ships with the purchase of three Chinese-built supramaxes.

The maritime subsidiary of New York-based Libra Group has officially taken over the recently acquired 57,000 dwt Ariadne, renamed Oslo Trader, after paying around $13m for the 2010-built ship.

Lomar said it also expects deliveries of the 2011-built 57,075 dwt Rome Trader, former Haut Brion, and the 2012-built 56,702 dwt Lima Trader, ex Universal Bangkok later this month.

The move marks Lomar’s first bulkers buy since early 2022, estimated at nearly $43m.
