Louis Dreyfus Armateurs orders four self-propelled barges at Wuchang

France’s Louis Dreyfus Armateurs has placed an order at CSIC-affiliated Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry for the construction of four 13,000 dwt self-propelled barges.

Delivery of the vessels is scheduled in late 2019 and the vessels will be used for transporting bauxite in West Africa.

In April, LDA subsidiary LD Ports & Logistics signed a 15-year agreement with UAE company Emirates Global Aluminum for the transshipment of bauxite in the Republic of Guinea. Emirates Global Aluminum will be loading bauxite at Kamsar in Guinea from its aluminum project in the country.

Louis Dreyfus ordered four vessels of the same type at Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry last year and all of the four vessels were delivered earlier this year.
