MacGregor wins Bumi Armada contract

Kuala Lumpur: MacGregor, an affiliate company of Cargotec, has won an order to supply equipment for three 80m ice-class vessels and a 96m shallow water pipe laying barge, all being constructed for Malaysia’s Bumi Armada Berhad.

The vessels are destined to operate in the Caspian Sea, with two vessels being constructed at Keppel Nantong Shipyard in China, one at Keppel Singmarine in Singapore, and the shallow water pipe laying barge at Romanian shipyard Santierul Naval Constanta.

"MacGregor is very well positioned to deliver offshore deck equipment for highly specialised offshore support vessels designed to work in extremely low temperature environments such as Arctic region and Caspian Sea," said Francis Wong, vice president, segment sales for offshore. "This leading market position has recently been strengthed by a number of important acquisitions, which means that we now have a comprehensive portfolio to meet customers’ specific operational requirements,” he added.
