Maersk Drilling jackup contracted to Aker BP

Maersk Drilling is reactivating jackup rig Maersk Reacher for a new two-year contract with Aker BP in the Norwegian North Sea.

The rig will be deployed in October as an accommodation rig, with an option included for the repurposing of the rig for plugging & abandonment in the final six months of the contract.

The contract is part of the alliance formed between the two companies in November 2017.

Morten Kelstrup, CCIO of Maersk Drilling, commented: “Like Aker BP, we see great value in working closely together, and the benefit is obvious in this contract where adaptability to the customer’s needs is key for Aker BP to be able to make a long-term commitment. Maersk Drilling is fully committed to providing smarter drilling for better value to our customers, and the Maersk Reacher contract demonstrates that the alliance framework we have entered with Aker BP enables us to identify mutually beneficial solutions.”

Maersk Reacher is currently warm stacked in Invergordon, Scotland and will be deployed for Aker BP at the Valhall East field.
