Maersk gets Dong extension

Maersk Drilling has secured a contract for jackup rig Maersk Giant (built 1986) from Danish energy company Dong, an extension of its current contract with Talisman.

The extension is for an additional 150 days, and will see the rig working in the North Sea Nini and Siri fields until March 2016.

“We are very pleased to continue our good corporation with DONG Energy, one of our key customers in the North Sea,” said Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO of Maersk Drilling.

The contract is valued at around $16m.
