Malaysia seeks China help in maritime training

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia is looking to up its maritime training credentials with a little help from its increasingly important maritime partner, Malaysia.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said that Malaysia is looking to develop its Maritime Training Institute into a training hub for the ASEAN region.
"The governments of Malaysia and China are discussing the mechanism of the collaboration, including the hosting of regional programmes," he said in a statement.
As part of firming ties between the two countries, Qinzhou Port in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region had become a sister port of Kuantan.
"The two ports will cooperate in various fields, including shared shipping lanes, logistics, information exchange and talent training," he said.  [01/12/14]
