Malaysia to ease cabotage policy

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia is to liberalise its cabotage policy to make it easier to ship transhipment cargoes between the ports of Sepanggar, Bintulu, Kuching, Klang and Tanjung Pelepas, according to a senior government official.

Malaysia’s cabotage policy which has been in place for more than 30 years has received stiff opposition of late with many claiming that it has led to increased prices for the end consumer.  [29/05/13]
