Malaysian domestic liner orders feeders in China

Domestic Malaysian containerline MTT Shipping has tapped Fujian Mawei in China for a series of feeder ships. Brokers report MTT has ordered two firm 1,162 teu ships with options for two more. No price has been revealed for the ships, which will come fitted with scrubbers.

Established in 2010, Selangor-based MTT sails three times a week to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, twice a week to Sibu, Bintulu and Miri. This in addition to weekly departures to Labuan, Sandakan, Tawau and Muara, Brunei.

Alphaliner lists MTT’s current fleet as just under 12,000 slots.
