Manaco Marine opens office in Greece for crewing ops

Colombo: Manaco Marine, a Sri Lankan company that provides ship management services to shipowners, has ventured into Greece and Cyprus, establishing an office in Athens as a business development unit, with a former Greek master mariner to head the operations.

“We have already seen great interest among Greek shipowners,” says Manaco Marine’s CEO Capt Nalin Peiris. “We are concentrating on developing the interest of Greek security companies to provide them logistical support by way of security guards out of Sri Lanka.”

Another area that Manaco Marine is venturing into is FTS (floating transfer station) operations, in partnership with Singapore-based Dauntless Ship Management.

“This has been done to tap the large market that is developing in Sri Lanka for ship-to-ship transfer of cargo,” says Peiris. “We have already brought in the equipment to provide an FTS package for vessels which carry bulk or liquid cargo off the coast of Sri Lanka.”
