Maran Tankers orders two more VLCCs

John Angelicoussis’ Maran Tankers has returned to South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to order two further VLCCs for $94m each, according to brokers’ reports. Delivery is expected in 2017.

The two 310,000-dwt vessels follow the order for two VLCCs that Maran placed in April, and another two ordered by the company in May this year.

Maran Tankers’ VLCC orderbook now stands at eight vessels, all of which are being built at DSME for delivery in 2016 and 2017.

The owner also has four 158,000-dwt suexmax tankers on order, all of which will be delivered from the Daewoo-Mangalia shipyard in Romania in 2017.
