Meratus acquires German boxship

Indonesian owner Meratus Line has added a 2000-built sub panamax containership to its fleet in a deal with German owner Hermann Buss.

According to multiple shipbroking sources, Hermann Buss sold its 2,442 teu boxship Leda Trader to Meratus for a price of $6m. MSI values the vessel at $6.7m.

It is the third vessel Meratus has acquired this year, after the acquisitions of the 2001-built 2,458 teu Kent Trader and the 2008-built MPP vessel MCP Villach.

The company currently operates a fleet of 56 containerships.
