MHI Vestas Offshore Wind secures DONG Energy deal

Danish firm DONG Energy has announced that it has signed an agreement with MHI Vestas Offshore Wind for the delivery of a wind turbine to the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in Germany.

Borkum Riffgrund 2 is located in the North Sea, 57km off the north-west coast of Germany, and will have a grid capacity of 450MW.

The agreement is conditional upon DONG Energy making final investment decision on the project.

“We’re very satisfied with the agreement we’ve made with MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. Using larger and more efficient wind turbines is an integral step on our way to reducing the cost of electricity, thereby making offshore wind even more competitive, ” said Mats Vikholm, senior vice president in DONG Energy.
