Kuala Lumpur: Micaline is to deploy its fourth chemical tanker early next year to transport crude palm oil (CPO) between Malaysia and China.
The new 7,000-DWT tanker will join Micaline’s fleet in the first-quarter of 2015.
The three existing tankers are trading on routes from Malaysia and Indonesia to ports in southern and northern China.
Micaline first began transporting CPO around two years ago, starting initially with two tankers, the 12,000-tonne Merris 1, and the 10,000-tonne Merris 2. The third 7,000-tonne tanker joined the fleet later.
Micaline is 55:45 joint venture between Malaysia-based Danum Shipping and Sarawak Oil Palms (SOP), Sarawak’s top plantation company. SOP owns some 63,500ha of oil plam estates, six CPO mills and a palm oil refinery and fractionation plant in Bintulu.
Danum Shipping is a subsidiary of Miri-based Shin Yang Shipping.
Micaline’s fleet comprises 20 vessels in total, including container and cargo ships. [4/11/14]
