Milestone deal for Icon

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s Icon Offshore has bagged a massive set of charter deals. Five offshore supply vessels and three anchor handlers have been fixed to Petronas Carigali for five years each with an option for an extra year. The deal is worth RM500m. Icon’s ceo Dr Jamal Yusof said the deal was an important “milestone” coming just two months after the restructuring of Ekuiti Nasional’s oil and gas businesses.

He also said: “Icon Offshore has been actively pursuing new opportunities to utilise its fleet, particularly in securing long-term contracts for its new AHTS vessels. We recently acquired two new vessels from Nam Cheong and moving forward we target to grow the fleet size to 35 by the year 2014.”

Currently, the company operates 30 vessels in Southeast Asia and the Middle East and has four more vessels under construction.  [24/01/13]
