Milestone for Swire in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur: Swire Oilfield Services and its Malaysian partner Altus Oil and Gas Malaysia Sdn Bhd have announced a milestone of 1,000 Cargo Carrying Units (CCU) on hire in Malaysia.

Altus Oil and Gas Group ceo Michael Ellsworth said Labuan has played a key role in Swire's tremendous growth in the Southeast Asia region.

In February 2012, Swire delivered 40 CCUs to Altus Oil & Gas' yard in Labuan to start their joint-venture business here.

"We have grown from an initial 40 units to 1,000 units in a very short period of time. Our growth in facilities and employment in Labuan has mirrored the growth in units. We have grown from a 2,000 sq. m. open yard to 8,000 sq. m. and from a team of two to 15 personnel," he said at the announcement of the 1,000 CCU on hire achievement yesterday.

Altus is expanding in Kemaman with a new 4,400 sq m yard and a 4,000 sq m covered warehouse.  [11/12/14]
