Ministry creates shipbuilding whitelist

Beijing: China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released a new policy for the shipbuilding industry. The new policy, which will be implemented from December 1, has created several new requirements in the shipbuilding industry for production facilities, equipment, technical capabilities and environmental protection.

The policy will also increase standards on ship emissions and lowered requirements on certain technical specifications.

MIIT will put shipbuilding companies which meet the requirements into the whitelist, and for those which are unable to meet the requirements the government won’t offer them relevant favorable policy support, including export tax rebates and bank credit. [15/11/13]
