Missing Union Maritime tanker confirmed taken by pirates

UK-based Union Maritime has confirmed that 2005-built oil products tanker Barrett which went missing last Tuesday off Benin has been the subject of a pirate attack.
 
Union Maritime lost communication with the vessel last Tuesday evening while it was at anchor off Benin, West Africa. AIS data for the vessel also has been offline since last Tuesday.
 
The company said it continues to work with all relevant parties and its primary concern remains the 22 crew on board.
