MOL orders four LNG carriers at Hudong Zhonghua

Japanese owner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) signed shipbuilding contracts with China’s CSSC-affiliated Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding yesterday for the construction of four 174,000 cu m LNG carriers.

The total value of the contract is about RMB5bn ($737m) and the ships will deliver in 2019 and 2020 onwards. The vessels will go on on long-term charter contract for the Yamal LNG project.

With this latest order, Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s LNG carrier orderbook is 11 vessels.
