MOL orders LNG bunkering vessel at Hudong Zhonghua

Japanese owner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has placed an order at CSSC-affiliated Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding for the construction of a LNG bunkering vessel.

The 18,600 cu m vessel will be the largest LNG bunkering vessel in the world and will be chartered to French energy giant Total.

In December, Total entered into an agreement with CMA CGM to provide tailor-made LNG supply solutions for CMA CGM’s nine LNG-powered 22,000 teu containerships, which are expected to be delivered by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding from 2020 onwards.

Total will supply around 300,000 tons of LNG a year to CMA CGM for 10 years.
