More transhipment at Northport

Kuala Lumpur: Northport in Port Klang is anticipating a rise in transhipment business this year, aiming to handle a record 1.45m teu of transhipment boxes, up from 2013’s figure of 1.3m teu.
 
A new fourth terminal is expected to help bolster transhipment volumes. The new terminal brings Northport’s annual capacity to a total of 5.6m teu. The aim is to handle a total of 3.4m teu this year, up from 2013’s 2.89m teu total. 
 
Northport along with neighbouring Westports make up Port Klang, which is the 12th largest container port in the world.  [12/03/14]
