Move to shift post-typhoon stranded ships

Manila: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is handing out emergency permits to allow shipowners to remove ships that washed ashore in Tacloban City and Guiuan, Eastern Samar, in the wake of Typhoon Haiyuan.

The owners of the ships may tow or salvage their vessels without having to undergo the permit process that would normally take three months. 15 commercials vessels and two ships belonging to the government were all washed ashore during the horrendous typhoon late last year.  [06/01/14]
