MPC Container Ships acquires another boxship

MPC Container Ships has acquired the 2,742 teu vessel Stadt Dresden from Germany’s Ahrenkiel Steamship.

Ahrenkiel Steamship will remain the technical shipmanager while the commercial management of the vessel will be handled by Contchart. The vessel will be re-named AS Clara upon redelivery from the current charter.

According to VesselsValue, the sale of the ship was transacted at $7.8m.

This latest acquisition has increased MPC’s fleet to 13 vessels and the company is expected to take over another 2,127 teu containership in the coming 10 days.

MPC Contianer Ships was established in April with a focus on investing in feeder containerships and in June the company raised $75m for further acquisitions.
