MST faces fine in the US

German owner MST has been charged in the US with covering up illegal dumping of oily wastewater.

Its bulker, Cornelia, was detained for 44 days towards the end of last year at Duluth, a port on Lake Superior.

MST stands accused of failing to maintain an accurate ship record about the disposal of oil-contaminated waste and presenting falsified records to the US Coast Guard. A large fine is likely.
