Murphy Oil contracts Noble drillship for Gulf of Mexico work

Arkansas-based oil and gas exploration firm Murphy Oil has stepped in to contract Noble Corporation’s ultra deep-water drillship Noble Bob Douglas in July.

Under the deal, covering early to late July, the Noble Bob Douglas will operate in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Neither the value of the deal nor the day rate have been revealed.

The drillship had been out of action since its previous contract, with Apache offshore Suriname, had ended in mid-April.

After Murphy’s July contract, UK-based Irish firm Tullow Oil will then take the Noble Bob Douglas for work off Suriname again
