Mysterious oil slick washes up on Philippine shores

Manila: Authorities in the Philippines reported yesterday that an oil slick dumped by an unidentified ship has hit 11 towns in La Union and Ilocos Sur provinces.

The oil slick was first detected on Tuesday. Teams from the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines have been sent to the area to coordinate the cleanup.

Authorities continue to try and identify the ship. [28/02/13]
