Herbjørn Hansson’s Nordic American Tankers has sealed a time charter contract with Norway’s Equinor for one of its three suezmax newbuilings, due for delivery from Samsung in August.
The three-year charter will commence in the autumn of 2018 at a rate of $21,000 per day, and includes two extension options which could extend the charter through to 2023.
“Going forward, we sense an upward trend for the tanker industry as there is a clear expectation for improvement,” the company said in a statement.
